Sustainable Streatham

Sustainable Streatham was launched at the Streatham premier of “The Age of Stupid” at the Streatham Business Centre on the 5th of July 2009. Prior to the film, Jonathan Leake, the Environment and Science correspondent for the Sunday Times, spoke on the nature of the climate change threat and emphasised the specific effects this could have on Streatham in particular. After the film a lively discussion was held on things we as individuals can do to combat climate change themselves.
It was in this context that Sustainable Streatham began, providing a central place where those who care can come and discuss action, plan individual, or group, action and spread the news, the know-how and the passion for change to others.
Sustainable Streatham hopes to promote sustainable living and to encourage discussion and action on issues as wide ranging as environmental awareness and education, energy saving, recycling and waste management, food growing, composting and transport amongst others.

Re-powering Streatham

-
Do you want lower energy bills?
-
Would you like to save money?
-
Do you want the government to pay you for solar energy you produce?
Sustainable Streatham is running a drop-in event that will aim to
help you find solutions to these and other questions. The event which
will be held at St Leonards Church on 13 & 14 March between 1pm -
4pm on both days, has three main aims:
-
To educate local residents on how to save money through reduced energy consumption
-
To educate residents about how to generate income from solar panels through the government’s new Feed In Tariff
-
To inform about a range of renewable energy options, technologies, grants, loans and payment schemes
For a full list of all the planned contributors and more event details you can download the Energy Event Announcement. (PDF, 56kb)
We look forward to seeing you there and if you feel able to come staff the tea stand for half an hour that would be grand too.
Come join us at SuS Green Drinks:
Streatham Green Drinks is a monthly event on the 2nd Thursday of every month.
