Help bring Crossrail 2 to Streatham!
We believe we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to bring major transport investment to Streatham and secure a Crossrail 2 station. Streatham has suffered from chronic underinvestment in transport infrastructure despite promises. The Bakerloo and East London Line extensions, Tramlink, Victoria Line and Northern Line spurs, and Overground and Tram options have all passed Streatham by.
TFL want to route Crossrail 2 via Balham (already served by Tube and mainline services with two Tube stations close by). If routed through Streatham Crossrail 2 would achieve its aims to a much greater extent.
Streatham station would alleviate congestion on the Northern and Victoria Lines because large numbers of people to the east and south of these lines would not have to travel to Tooting Bec, Tooting Broadway, Balham or Brixton stations.
A Streatham Crossrail 2 junction would ease congestion at Streatham Common (6th busiest in the southern Network) and Streatham stations which are at capacity in rush hour and won't support expected population growth.
A Streatham Crossrail 2 station would cut congestion and pollution on local roads - including the dangerous A23 improving the quality of life for local residents north and south.
Streatham station offers greater opportunity for growth and regeneration and would bring much needed new jobs and new homes to a much wider area than Balham.
